Vinyl Fence Care and Maintenance

Ashley VanderWall

Outdoor Essentials® vinyl fence is low-maintenance. You'll never need to paint or stain it. You'll simply need to do some light cleaning to keep your vinyl fence looking like new. Read on for a few tips on cleaning your vinyl fence.

How to clean your vinyl fence:

Annual cleaning

To keep your fence looking crisp and clean year after year, occasionally wash it with a mild detergent and water. You don’t need to do this more than once a year. And in most cases, this is all the maintenance you'll need to do.

To remove dirt or grime

As with most exterior products, vinyl fence may get dirty when exposed to the elements. If this happens, simply spray the dirt or grime off with a garden hose or power-washer.
Note on power-washing: Use caution when spraying your fence with a power-washer. We recommend starting at a lower pressure setting and working your way up as needed. If the pressure is too high, you could damage your fence.

To remove mildew

Since the surface of our vinyl fence is smooth and non-porous, it’s difficult for mildew to grow there. However, it may form under the wettest conditions and is easily removed by cleaning it with mild detergent and water.

To remove stubborn stains

To remove spots that don’t come off with mild detergent and water, scrub them with a soft-bristled brush and a non-abrasive cleaner, then spray with water.
